Definitely easy.CRI has worked diligently to harness many years of grinding technology into an operator control interface that is easy to understand. The CRI EZ-Touch is designed to simplify the operation of your CNC Centerless Grinder’s high-end features. Features like in-process or post-process gaging, two axis CNC circular interpolation of a complex dressing path, creating, storing and recalling part programs in the systems database, setting the infeed and dresser zero positions and the dynamic infeed profile allowing the coordination between infeed positions and varying regulating wheel speeds are included in the system.
There are no G-codes to manipulate the servo axis. Instead we use the combination of a simplified data entry routine with a graphic interface that the operator will find extremely easy to use. With features like creating or editing a dresser profile there is error checking that will notify the operator that a data entry mistake has been made and the corrective action that is required.
Using a touch screen interface, the operator simply touches the push button to start or stop a function or touch an edit field to change data. When entering data, a pop-up window will appear to allowing the operator to enter the new data.
Each screen contains items that are used specifically for the function of the individual screen like starting and stopping motors, changing cycle modes, entering new feedrates and positions, gaging parameters and SPC trends.
There are other items that are used globally. This means that the same items are found on all of the screens. Primarily they are the date and time found at the top left and top right corners of the screen and the operator prompt found at the bottom of the screen. Also, there is the screen control area that contains the navigation buttons, which allows the operator to move from screen to screen. These appear in the same place in every screen.
Many features have been added to make electrical debug of a complicated machine easy on the maintenance staff. There are screens for inputs, outputs, communication status, and error messages.
This is a state of the art control system simplifying the high-end features of today’s CNC infeed or thrufeed grinder, requiring minimal training with significantly improved uptime. The system incorporates absolute positioning, eliminating the need for re-homing even after power outages and HTML help files with easy access right on the operator interface. The system can incorporate animation showing automation functions and is powerful enough to handle CRI’s robotic integration.
